After Saving The Universe A Thousand Times

After Saving The Universe A Thousand Times: Chapter 10

Chapter 10: All Gods’ Descent 10

“Dear villains, you all seem to be looking a bit disheveled.”

After sending Duo Ge to handle the most troublesome cleanup task, Dong Jin, now with some free time, seemed to suddenly notice everyone’s sorry state. He greeted the group of criminals in a tone that was both friendly and confused.

Of course, apart from himself, no one else here actually felt any sense of warmth.

So, all he received in return was a cold, awkward silence.

Yet, completely unaware, Dong Jin continued with his bewilderment: “Hmm? None of you seem particularly enthusiastic. Is it that you don’t like the way I say hello, or do you just not welcome my arrival? I rarely drop by, don’t any of you have something you’d like to say to me?”

Who in their right mind would enjoy being greeted in such a terrifying way?!

Perhaps recalling the nightmare from earlier when Dong Jin was telling his joke, the survivors in the hall were genuinely afraid he’d cause another random scene just over a simple greeting. Slowly, some began to mindlessly clap in mechanical, robotic motions to welcome him.

And once a few started clapping, it wasn’t long before the applause in the hall swelled from scattered claps to a thunderous roar.

By the time the applause peaked, these criminals had completely given up any resistance, as well as any trace of shame. Before Dong Jin even had the chance to say anything more, just a glance from his bandaged eye had them in unison, echoing Duo Ge’s earlier words:

“Welcome, great Lord Dong Jin, to this place!”

Meanwhile, in Dong Jin’s livestream, even the experienced viewers were stunned by this unfolding spectacle of mass training:

【Well, damn. These people really are going through the ‘despise Duo Ge, understand Duo Ge, become Duo Ge’ experience, huh?】

Although Dong Jin had purposely intensified the fear in these people with his words, aiming to leave an unforgettable impression on them, he never expected the criminals to play along with such a ridiculous routine.

So you’re trying to embarrass me, huh? Well, as long as I don’t feel embarrassed, no one can make me embarrassed!

Dong Jin barely managed to suppress the corner of his mouth from twitching. With his expression unchanged, he turned his back on the group and walked towards the front of the hall—he was afraid that if he looked at them any longer, not even the bandages could hide the murderous intent in his eyes.

After a minute, when he turned around to face the villains again, he had already composed himself, sitting freely on the podium at the front.

“Alright, that’s enough clapping. Too much enthusiasm can get annoying. So, what have you all been up to over the past three days while Wuli was in charge? Let’s hear from the seventh row, from left to right.”

The criminals in that row, who had been randomly called on by Dong Jin, inwardly cursed their bad luck, but in the end, they only dared to answer with anger buried deep inside:

“Planting bombs.”

“Killing people, burying bombs underground.”

“Poisoning, putting bombs in crowded places.”

“Making bombs, buying bombs, handing out bombs to people in hotels…”

By the time Dong Jin heard the last response, his mind was practically overwhelmed by the word “bomb.”

No wonder he could find a dozen bombs during his nightly strolls. Turns out Wuli the ram-headed guy had been a workaholic all along, tirelessly striving for the freedom of the supernatural beings.

If he really were one of those supernatural beings, he might’ve been moved by Wuli’s dedication. But unfortunately, he wasn’t.

So Dong Jin simply leaned back against the podium, hands supporting him, and murmured:

“Boring. Truly boring.”

“Bombs are boring, poisoning is boring, and random bombings are even more boring. I don’t want to hear about these same old things. It’s so monotonous it’s putting me to sleep.”

Dong Jin’s voice wasn’t loud, but even at this volume, the criminals in the hall, who had long regarded him as the number one danger, heard every word crystal clear.

Just as they were about to break into a cold sweat again, Dong Jin, now done complaining, seemed to be bothered by the oversized sleeve of his suit jacket. Sitting up straighter, he started rolling up the red sleeve as he turned his head to Kale, who had yet to say a single word, and remarked:

“No wonder you didn’t want to come here before. If you ever feel like writing a lullaby, you should definitely drop by this place. You’d find plenty of inspiration.”

The villains had never encountered a situation where working hard would still get them mocked. Yet, after being tortured so relentlessly by Dong Jin, they no longer had the energy to even think of resisting.

Even though they knew that whatever Dong Jin said next was bound to lead to more trouble, they waited in silence for him to continue, fully prepared to applaud enthusiastically no matter how amusing—or not—his words would be.

“Speaking of, during the tea party yesterday, a lady asked me to pick out a few of you who might be useful and blow up Genesis City 1 as soon as possible. But that’s just too unoriginal.”

The lady Dong Jin referred to was none other than the gossiping female supernatural beings from earlier. He paused briefly, then shifted his tone and said:

“But I rarely refuse a lady’s request, so let’s compromise.”

At this moment, Dong Jin smiled for the fourth time today.

His first smile had brought about a deafening explosion; the second took three lives; the third made everyone in the hall laugh along with him.

And now came the fourth smile. The demon among men smiled down at them and said:

“—Let’s play a game.”

A game? Was it going to be another deadly game, like the explosions and jokes earlier, where a single misstep could lead to death?

But what Dong Jin said next made some of the villains, who didn’t care whether they lived or died, realize that sometimes, certain things are even scarier than death: “In the next three days, you get to choose whether to plant bombs or fireworks in this city.”

“In three days, if the number of bombs planted exceeds the number of fireworks, you win. I’ll let Wuli take my place at the next tea party, and he will continue dealing with you.”

“But if more fireworks are planted than bombs, then unfortunately, you’ll be seeing me again after the next tea party. At that time, I’ll have you plant fireworks for another three days, and when the third tea party begins, I’ll detonate all the fireworks at once. Everyone here will witness the most spectacular fireworks display ever seen.”

Just as most of the villains found Dong Jin’s suggestion ridiculous and were certain he would lose, the devil spoke again:

“Do you know why I’m giving you this choice?”

“Because I’m a savior—recognized by the infinite universe and countless planets as the savior.”

“Poison, murder, and bombs—none of them are original, all of them are idiotic.”

“What I want to see is poison turned into a sleeping aid, murder into saving lives, and bombs into dazzling fireworks.”

“I want to see villains like me, who were once feared and hunted, become the saviors this city can’t help but acknowledge.”

“I want to see the world cheer for you, and even the supernatural beings and gods look upon you with awe.”

“Only then will it be truly interesting.”

“And if that day ever comes, I will bestow an unimaginable blessing upon the one who plants the most fireworks.”

“So…” At this moment, Dong Jin’s lips, stained with red marks, curled into an alluring smile. “Are you all willing to truly kick off this grand celebration for me?”

Once again, silence answered him.

But this silence was completely different from the previous one.

This was not the quiet born from fear, but from a profound sense of bewilderment. For a moment, they couldn’t even comprehend what Dong Jin was saying.

Was he asking them, these villains with blood on their hands, to suddenly transform into saviors?

How could he? How dare he?!

“…May I ask, hypothetically, if the fireworks outnumber the bombs, what will you do after that grand citywide fireworks show?”

After a long pause, one villain finally spoke, their expression complicated, breaking the silence.

Dong Jin’s answer was, “I won’t do anything. Surely you don’t think I’m actually going to have you go and save people, do you?”

“I just want to watch a fireworks show, and see the look on those supernatural beings’ faces when they realize that the explosions have turned into a firework display. As for what happens after the fireworks—whether you continue poisoning, killing, or planting bombs—what does that have to do with me?”

“Do you understand now, my future saviors?”

Who wouldn’t understand after that?

Dong Jin wasn’t offering them a choice to become saviors.

What he was offering was an unprecedented chaos, along with an equally unprecedented opportunity.

Those who had been evil for too long and wanted to turn back could now gain the title of savior. Those tempted by the power of supernatural beings could receive their blessings. Those simply drawn in by Dong Jin’s charisma could serve under him.

Even those who enjoyed the thrill of evil could resume their villainous ways after the fireworks, and even experience a fresh new pleasure of dragging the world from heaven back to hell.

Even if a few stragglers opposed Dong Jin’s absurd game, the other four types of people would quickly deal with them and ensure they never spoke again.

A minute earlier, the villain who had asked Dong Jin that question now felt their hands trembling.

—What could be worse than physical death?

—It’s being toyed with until death on a mental level.

And not only them, but even the supernatural beings were all at Dong Jin’s mercy.

What was even more terrifying was that the reason Dong Jin was doing this was likely just because he wanted to see a grand fireworks show.

At this moment, as the villains stared blankly at Dong Jin, they couldn’t help but wonder: What kind of capricious monster had they just been speaking to?

With charisma like his, not even a hundred Wuli could compare.

After Dong Jin’s declaration of the game, the villains, dazed by his words, each left the hall with their minds racing.

In an instant, the vast auditorium was empty, leaving only Dong Jin and Kale behind.

As Dong Jin casually pulled a tissue from the podium, attempting to wipe a small bloodstain from his suit collar, Kale suddenly produced a dagger from who-knows-where, swung it carelessly, and sliced off the bloodstained left lapel of Dong Jin’s suit.

Even though the dagger had come within an inch of his neck, Dong Jin didn’t flinch, nor did his brow twitch.

After cutting off the lapel, Kale didn’t immediately withdraw the dagger. Instead, he pressed it against the blood-splattered right lapel and said, “Within the hour, Wuli will know about your speech this afternoon.”

Kale’s low-toned warning, paired with the sense of mortal danger at hand, made Dong Jin lift his eye slightly from beneath the bandages.

He gazed at Kale’s dark gold eyes, so close yet impossible to read, and said in a half-serious, half-mocking tone:

“Well, what can I do? I’m the one in charge now, right?”

“I just want to see villains become saviors, bombs turn into fireworks. I’m really curious what kind of expressions Wuli and the others will have when the fireworks bloom.”

“That’s the kind of drama I want—a celebration that upends everything.”

“Since I’ve given you the chance to play the opening notes of this grand celebration, to witness the start of the carnival, surely you’ll stand by my side, won’t you?”

As Dong Jin finished his final words, he grabbed Kale’s wrist, veins bulging, applying a deft force to push the dagger away from his neck and expertly slip it into his own hand.

Then, under Kale’s ambiguous gaze, Dong Jin personally sliced through the right lapel of his suit, making the red-and-gold outfit symmetrical once more.

As the fabric fell, what he heard was a low and definite, “Of course.”

Clearly, this limited love brain and true hedonist 2 was also contributing his remaining value today.
