After Saving The Universe A Thousand Times: Chapter 7
Chapter 7: All Gods’ Descent
As Kale was delayed by the female supernatural being, Dong Jin, who had come out a little later, was now walking alone toward the elevator for his return trip.
However, when he passed the wooden door to the stairwell on the 33rd floor, his steps momentarily halted—almost imperceptibly.
The next second, he slightly turned his head, and with a slow, subtle movement, a smirk formed at the corners of his lips, directed toward the tightly shut door to his right.
As the red marks at the corners of his mouth curved upwards, even though it was October and still afternoon, the person hiding behind the door felt a chilling cold that made their whole body tremble.
In that moment, they felt as if they had been drenched from head to toe in a storm.
They thought they had hidden well—they had been born in the dangerous rainforest and had taught themselves the skill of holding their breath and hiding from a young age. This time, they had even specifically chosen to stand in the dead corner of the 33rd floor stairwell, occasionally peeking through a crack in the wooden door.
They had done the same thing during the last tea party, and none of the supernatural beings had noticed their presence.
So what was the deal with this new supernatural being? Could they truly be more perceptive than the beasts of the rainforest?
Even though the person behind the door was frozen in place, unable to move, Dong Jin had no intention of approaching.
He simply finished his intimidating smile and continued walking toward the elevator, completely indifferent to the fate of the person behind the door.
If you asked Dong Jin, the man’s hiding skills were actually quite good, but unfortunately, he had “seen” him.
Just moments ago, when Dong Jin’s gaze happened to land on the wooden door for the third second, the following words appeared on it:
[33rd floor stairwell wooden door: Locked. The one who locked it is standing behind the door.]So Dong Jin decided to playfully mess with the guy.
After all, no good people showed up in a place like this.
If the person got the hint and approached him voluntarily, all the better.
Dong Jin had been wanting to find a suitable blade in this cursed hotel to help him with some tasks he found inconvenient to handle himself.
This blade could be human or supernatural being.
Originally, he thought Kale was perfect, but judging from the attitudes of the other supernatural beings today, Kale’s status was higher than he had anticipated, and Kale’s obsession with love was far more serious than he had expected.
Dong Jin just wanted a single-edged blade, not a double-edged sword that could hurt both others and himself.
Now the question was, would the guy spying on the supernatural beings at the door prove sharp and easy to wield?
After Dong Jin returned to Room 1001 on the 10th floor and waited in boredom for nearly half an hour, his door was finally knocked on softly.
Upon hearing the sound, Dong Jin didn’t get up right away. Instead, he lowered his eyes and glanced at the timer on his phone—27 minutes had passed since he left the 33rd floor and the other party came to find him.
Under 30 minutes. Barely acceptable.
Dong Jin casually brushed some stray hair from his forehead to the back of his head, then lazily stood up and opened the long-silent door.
“Buon pomeriggio, Il mio nuovo coltello. (Good afternoon, my new knife.)”
To think that the language of the Supreme Universe was something Dong Jin had initially learned just to understand the occasional murmurs of Lei Ming.
The sad part was, after Dong Jin mastered it, he realized that whenever the God of Night and Drama spoke in divine language, it was mostly to string together curse words in various forms.
Still, using it now to intimidate this “lucky one” wasn’t a bad idea either.
Dong Jin looked at the man before him, whose face was mostly obscured by a gray hood. After quickly scanning the information that popped up about him, Dong Jin smiled again.
[Duo Ge: Human, adult male.] [Height: 189 cm, Weight: 76 kg.] [Occupation: Bad guy, responsible for numerous deaths.] [But who would have thought that such a fearless murderer once found himself at a loss, spinning in circles, just from a single glance from you.]Great, a villain among villains. Tossing him aside after use would be no loss.
While Dong Jin continued to smile normally, even this expression brought back to Duo Ge the terror he had felt moments ago while hiding behind the door.
Unconsciously, Duo Ge’s tense right hand moved to the workwear pocket on the right side of his pants.
Even though Dong Jin wasn’t focusing on it, he could easily guess that Duo Ge was likely clutching his usual weapon in that pocket, perhaps a dagger.
—It seems this blade hasn’t been tamed yet.
—But no matter, he’s good at training dogs.
“…Do you have any orders for me?”
Duo Ge finally spoke, unable to bear the irritation caused by the sound of the umbrella tip tapping against the floor as Dong Jin sat back on the sofa, absentmindedly fiddling with the black umbrella as though he didn’t even exist.
In truth, Duo Ge wasn’t entirely sure Dong Jin had any business with him.
It was only because Dong Jin hadn’t killed him earlier that he dared to make this bold assumption.
“Hmm? Are you sure it’s me looking for you, and not you looking for me?” Dong Jin lifted his face and glanced toward Duo Ge at the doorway.
Duo Ge’s hand, still in his right pocket, froze instantly.
Dong Jin had hit the nail on the head. He did have something to ask him.
The reason Duo Ge had specifically hidden behind the 33rd-floor door earlier was because he wanted to find out if the leader of this round of supernatural beings had changed.
The previous leaders had always been the Ram-headed Wuli and Kale. Kale never bothered with anything, while Wuli only pushed them to plant bombs and banned any private fights between humans in the hotel.
This disgusted Duo Ge to no end—especially when he saw a longtime enemy he’d always wanted to kill had entered the hotel and even joined the ranks of those serving the supernatural beings.
Since then, every three days, Duo Ge had gone to crouch behind the top-floor door, waiting for Wuli to step down so that a new leader would emerge, one who didn’t play by the rules.
And now, the leader had indeed changed. As for whether this one followed the rules or not…
Duo Ge couldn’t help but stare at Dong Jin.
His eyes were hidden under bandages, his mouth concealed by red marks.
Whether it was his gaze, expression, or the tone of his voice, Duo Ge couldn’t discern a single thing about this newly appointed supernatural being.
He only knew one thing—He must be a madman.
“Yes, I have something to request of you.” Faced with a madman who had risen to power so quickly after his arrival, Duo Ge didn’t dare to hide anything anymore and said, “There’s an enemy in this hotel I’ve wanted to kill for a long time. I’d like to ask for your permission for a personal duel.”
So, he had been hiding behind the door just for this.
Dong Jin thought indifferently but kept his face expressionless as he replied, “I’ve heard that Wuli has always forbidden personal duels between humans.”
Just as Duo Ge hurried to say something in response, Dong Jin continued:
“But I am not Wuli. Besides, what even is a duel? If two people are equally matched and exchange blows, then it’s a fight. But if one person dies without any resistance, it’s nothing more than a one-sided slaughter.”
At this, Duo Ge couldn’t maintain his pretense of respect any longer. He immediately raised his head to look at Dong Jin, who was still casually leaning against the sofa.
If he understood correctly, the new leader was implying that as long as he could swiftly and silently kill his opponent, he could go ahead and act within the hotel?
“I hate blood,” Dong Jin spoke again, just as Duo Ge was anxiously trying to decipher his meaning. “I also hate cleaning up after people, and I hate ugly deaths even more.”
Dong Jin was always truthful when he could be.
He hated blood because, on the 500th midnight, Lei Ming had personally shown him what it meant to be surrounded by crimson, to witness rivers of blood.
He hated cleaning up after others, but if Duo Ge’s enemy ended up dead by his usual weapon the next day, Dong Jin would be forced to handle the aftermath for the brute.
As for the last part about hating “ugly deaths,” that was just something Dong Jin threw in casually. After all, if someone had to die, why waste energy choosing how?
Since Duo Ge was still somewhat useful, and Dong Jin wanted to make this instance a little easier, he decided to explain a few things in advance.
“In this world, it’s hard to live, but not that hard to die, right? How’s your chemistry knowledge?” Dong Jin suddenly asked, to which Duo Ge awkwardly tugged on his hoodie.
Chemistry? Don’t make things difficult for this rainforest-born illiterate.
Seeing Duo Ge’s expression, Dong Jin immediately understood he was dealing with a clueless individual, so he had to elaborate further:
“Earlier, I noticed the bathroom in this hotel has disinfectant and toilet cleaner. When mixed, they produce deadly chlorine gas. If the room is poorly ventilated, it’s enough to kill someone.”
“Alternatively, if you have some patience, there’s a pool on the 32nd floor. Every seven days, someone adds bleach powder to disinfect it.”
“The main ingredient in bleach powder is calcium hypochlorite. In high enough concentrations, it reacts with carbonated beverages, instantly producing foam and heat, which could potentially burn to death anyone unlucky enough to fall in.”
“So, did you understand?”
Under Dong Jin’s light, unchanging tone, Duo Ge couldn’t even remember how he managed to nod his head.
He only knew:
– He is on a completely different level from those guys before.
– He’s not a madman; he’s a true monster.
He should have realized this the moment he glimpsed that smile while hiding behind the door.
The new leader truly didn’t follow any rules—and he was far too lawless. In just a few words, he had spoken of hundreds of ways to kill.
But Duo Ge no longer felt fear.
In fact, only a leader like this could make his blood boil, willing to serve without hesitation.
“Is there anything I can do for you?” Though the words were almost identical to his original request, this time, Duo Ge’s attitude was completely different.
As Duo Ge spoke, Dong Jin, who had somehow become interested in the tea bags on the table, was attempting to brew tea with cold water.
When he heard the question, his hand didn’t so much as tremble as he poured. The calm stream of water continued to flow steadily into the pot, slowly forming a mirror-like surface in the cup.
“Something you can do for me…” At that moment, Dong Jin merely looked at the tea that had yet to steep properly, speaking without turning his head, “Oh right, the original owner of this body seems to have lost a phone. If you’ve got time, go find it.”
Dong Jin said it so casually, as if pulling a random task from memory to brush Duo Ge off, but Duo Ge took it to heart.
And so, by the next morning in this instance world:
Duo Ge’s enemy was found dead in his own room, apparently due to an unfortunate accident. On the same day, a habitual thief staying on the tenth floor of the hotel tragically fell to his death.
At the same time, a simple black paper bag was quietly hung on the doorknob of Room 1001, where Dong Jin resided.
Inside the pitch-black bag lay the original owner’s lost phone, resting quietly.
The author has something to say:
Dong Jin, a true dog-training master, who just happened to be delayed by the instance.
