After Winning The Esports Championship I’m Going To Pilot A Mecha: Chapter 139

139. Who exploded?

The battle between mechas, regardless of how it starts, in most cases, ends up focusing on mecha blade combat.

Because mecha swords are the quickest weapons for power core transmission, they can destroy the opponent’s force field at the fastest speed compared to lasers, particle cannons, and other firepower weapons, causing significant damage to enemies. This applies equally whether it’s mecha against mecha or mecha against other species. Therefore, for the vast majority of pilots, mecha sword combat is mandatory and the area that most tests a pilot’s micro-control skills.

In the field of mecha sword combat, Zuo Quanzong is undoubtedly one of the most authoritative pilots in the world today. From his debut to the present, every battle of Zuo Quanzong, as long as the relevant video data is preserved, will definitely become advanced teaching material in major academies’ mecha combat departments. Every operational detail of the Red Guard Commander is worthy of careful study. So far, Zuo Quanzong has never been defeated in mecha blade duels.

Not to mention failure, pilots who can withstand several rounds against the Red Guard Commander are also rare worldwide. This point is universally recognized, including among those watching the battle.

Clang, clang, clang—!

In a brief moment, the two colossal mechas in the desert have already clashed several times with their mecha blades. Each clash of the mecha blades caused intense sonic booms in the air, with almost tangible shockwaves spreading outward from the point of impact. The friction of the blades against the air generated high temperatures, tearing at each other, creating a visual effect akin to a blacksmith’s forge!

The mecha blade equipped on Zuo Quanzong’s Rainstorm is a cross spear, crafted from the rare and scarce Octode Ramses alloy. Its appearance resembles a long spear, complementing Rainstorm’s slender and streamlined figure like a battlefield warrior wearing steel helmets. Such a two-handed weapon is extremely difficult to use, and ordinary pilots dare not wield it, but for a pilot of Zuo Quanzong’s caliber, it’s wielded effortlessly, every attack striking terror into the hearts of enemies.

On the other hand, Ji Mingzhu’s Dawn, piloted by Ji Mingzhu, is equipped with a long-handled Miao Dao mecha blade, usable for single-handed attacks or gripping with both hands for slashing. Its appearance resembles General Tang Fred’s Horse Chopping Saber but finer, also made from Octode Ramses alloy. The value of this mecha blade alone is priceless, with destructive power and toughness at the top level, capable of tearing apart mecha and Aberration force fields with tremendous force.

When masters clash, victory often hinges on a split-second decision, so neither Zuo Quanzong nor Ji Mingzhu were careless.

Swish——

Zuo Quanzong’s eagle-like eyes narrowed slightly. With a flick of the controls, the cross spear in Rainstorm’s hand was lifted sharply, aiming fiercely at the head of Dawn in front of him!

Ji Mingzhu’s brow twitched, and in an instant, he responded. The massive Dawn raised its blade as Ji Mingzhu moved, the long-handled Miao Dao following the trajectory of the cross spear, sparking a series of crackling flames—

However, as soon as the mecha blades of both Zuo Quanzong and Ji Mingzhu made contact, Ji Mingzhu felt an unusually strong force coming his way, a power surge that accompanied the swift strike, something Ji Mingzhu was no stranger to.

Secondary overclocking!

Ji Mingzhu swiftly engaged the secondary overclock he had at his fingertips, a move executed as effortlessly as Zuo Quanzong’s, if not more cunning and discreet. At first glance, this strike seemed no different from the others, but in the instant their mecha blades clashed, Zuo Quanzong had already completed the overclock operation, maximizing power output in an instant. From the mecha’s movements, it was clear Zuo Quanzong still had reserves, allowing him to counter Ji Mingzhu’s moves in the same instant.

The pressure hit instantly, and Ji Mingzhu finally understood why Zuo Quanzong was hailed as the world’s recognized strongest pilot. With just this single mecha blade maneuver, Zuo Quanzong was enough to outshine all pilots of his rank. And this was his current state; if Zuo Quanzong were a decade younger, still at his peak, this strike would be even more terrifying!

The cross spear cut a dazzling path through the air, whipping up a wave of air that swept through the swirling sandstorm. The billowing airflow spun around, and from the perspective of onlookers, it seemed as though the spear carried with it the might of the sandstorm, an overwhelming display!

At this critical moment, Ji Mingzhu was equally decisive. He also engaged overclocking without hesitation. With a push of the controls, Dawn’s long-handled Miao Dao quickly descended, forcefully altering the angle of the incoming strike. Simultaneously adjusting his body slightly, the sharp blade of the spear grazed Dawn’s head, scattering a few fragments of its outer armor that were instantly blown away by the wind and sand.

This was the strength of an L-class mecha, with comprehensive performance enhancements and an independent stability system in the central part of the mecha, enabling Ji Mingzhu to effortlessly execute various high-difficulty maneuvers.

The thrilling exchange left even Mia Feiyan outside the simulation sweating nervously for Ji Mingzhu.

But it wasn’t over yet. Zuo Quanzong’s mecha blade was not something easy to counter. Before Ji Mingzhu could adjust his posture, the cross spear in midair moved again, coming in for another strike!

Clang!

In the blink of an eye, Ji Mingzhu once again controlled Dawn’s Miao Dao to intercept. Engaging overclocking, he managed the momentum, deflecting the cross spear to the side. Simultaneously, the floating cannons behind him lifted, aiming directly at the blue-armored Rainstorm in front of him, unleashing a direct frontal assault!

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Zuo Quanzong seemed to have anticipated this move early on. He stepped back, the energy shield activating in advance. A massive burst of fire erupted before his eyes, creating ripples across the energy shield. The tremendous impact caused even Rainstorm’s figure to stagger backward.

All of this happened in an instant. Both pilots pushed their skills to the limit. Each clash harbored hidden threats and countless strategic maneuvers. If dissected, the depth of these exchanges could likely fill discussions for days on end.

Outside the simulation pods, there was complete silence. The young apprentices, who had expected Ji Mingzhu to falter within a single round, were left dumbfounded. In that fleeting moment, they even mistook the scene as having two Zuo Quanzongs. The speed and intensity of the mecha’s exchange were so rapid and fierce that it blurred the distinction between Zuo Quanzong and Ji Mingzhu. The interweaving of red and blue amidst the swirling sands almost melded into one. The continuous flashes of fire and thunderous booms left viewers on edge.

These young students tried to place themselves in the shoes of either pilot, but all ended in the same despairing conclusion: they would have exploded their mechas on the first exchange, without a doubt.

Onscreen, both sides momentarily distanced themselves, regrouping to find a new rhythm of attack.

Inside their cockpits, Zuo Quanzong and Ji Mingzhu simultaneously revealed a similar smile.

Exhilarating.

Whether Ji Mingzhu or Zuo Quanzong, neither had experienced such a feeling of walking on the edge of a knife for a long time. The duel of mecha blades was the ultimate test of their skills and minds. Zuo Quanzong, with his wealth of experience, understood perfectly when and how Ji Mingzhu would respond—a level of anticipation Ji Mingzhu couldn’t match. Despite Ji Mingzhu’s natural talent and superior reflexes due to his youth, he lacked the experience that Zuo Quanzong had accumulated over years of combat with real mechas. Yet, Ji Mingzhu had his advantages. His youth meant quicker reflexes, a factor that often played in his favor.

The last strike by Zuo Quanzong, like a festering ulcer, would have caused immediate mecha destruction for anyone else. Ji Mingzhu had never encountered such an opponent before, nor had he faced such a dire situation. His responses just now were purely reactive, relying entirely on his reflexes. Fortunately, the performance of his L-class mecha kept up with his reactions. If it weren’t for the L-class mecha he piloted, even if he had been piloting the Phoenix Redeemer, the situation would have been far more dangerous than it was just now.

“Good fight,” Zuo Quanzong smiled faintly, lines of age showing a hint of the youthful spirit rarely seen on his face. “Come again!”

Without waiting for Ji Mingzhu to react, Zuo Quanzong controlled his mecha to grab the cross spear and attack again!

Enduring a prolonged battle was not Zuo Quanzong’s advantage. Perhaps if he were a dozen years younger, it might have been possible, but now, if he continued to fight head-on, Zuo Quanzong’s stamina would definitely be depleted before Ji Mingzhu’s.

Swift and decisive!

Buzz!

The cross spear cut through a strange trajectory, aiming at the ribs of Dawn. Ji Mingzhu dodged swiftly, the spear blade grazing his body and smashing the lion-headed statue behind him into pieces. This attack angle was cunningly crafted, a testament to Zuo Quanzong’s deep understanding of mecha structures. If Ji Mingzhu hadn’t parried this blow, it would have led to a critical situation where vital structures and mechanical joints were punctured.

Ji Mingzhu dared not slacken in the slightest. The next moment, Zuo Quanzong’s assault resumed!

Frost Twister!

The spear shadows almost turned into afterimages, wave after wave pressing relentlessly like raging waves. In their attack style, Ji Mingzhu and Zuo Quanzong were quite similar—they left no room for the opponent to breathe. Ji Mingzhu held his ground, the saber swirling as he clashed head-on with Zuo Quanzong.

Clang clang clang clang!

In just two seconds, they exchanged several blows, interspersed with high-precision instantaneous overclocking and close-range laser bombardments. Watching from outside the simulation pods, everyone was on edge, cold sweat crawling down their backs.

Boom!

The floating cannon behind Rainstorm fired a Gauss laser beam, directly targeting Ji Mingzhu as he dodged low. This time, his attack momentum was completely different from before. The power core spun rapidly, emitting a thunderous hum that reverberated like thunder—a clear sign of reaching maximum overclocking!

Ji Mingzhu’s heart skipped a beat. Before he could fully grasp Zuo Quanzong’s movements, a sense of crisis had already surged within him!

The blue mecha, Rainstorm, in front of him stretched out its slender body like a feline predator in this moment. With a burst of power from its rear thrusters, it swung the cross spear in its hand. This strike was perfect in both angle and timing. Outside the simulation pods, Mia Feiyan also recognized this move.

It was Zuo Quanzong’s most adept killing move from his youth, appearing long before the Three Courts’ Ballistic Knife. However, as Zuo Quanzong aged, this move had not been seen for a long time. On one hand, it was because Zuo Quanzong’s age and physical fitness no longer allowed for such precise control. On the other hand… there was no one in the current era worthy of Zuo Quanzong using this move again.

And now, this strike reappeared like a fierce tiger, accompanied by a terrifying momentum!

Ji Mingzhu couldn’t help but tremble, not out of fear, but out of excitement.

Facing Zuo Quanzong’s strike, Ji Mingzhu pushed the control lever and instantly adjusted several knobs around him. At the same time, overclocking was maxed out, and Dawn’s power core roared like a beast, drowning out the furious winds around him.

The cataclysmic power surged through the complex structure, lifting the long-handle saber in Dawn’s hand. Its slender mecha frame seemed to collapse like a spring before exploding, rushing along the steel spine and generating a storm that collided with Zuo Quanzong’s cross spear!

Clang!!

The movements of the two mechas were like a torrential flood and tsunami, yet to onlookers, the world seemed to quiet down in that instant.

The next moment, with the two mechas at the center, sand and dust swept everything away. The ancient pyramid collapsed thunderously amid the rumbling, and airborne debris and storms filled the holographic screens, obscuring all sight. The collision between two top-tier pilots held everyone’s gaze fixed, especially since they piloted mechas far superior to S-class, capable of affecting everything within their operational range when unleashing their full force fields against each other.

Mech explosion!

The details were obscured, but soon the words “mech explosion” appeared on the screen. Accompanied by a resounding noise, the holographic display dimmed, leaving everyone outside the simulation pods momentarily stunned.

A mech exploded?

Who exploded?

What exactly happened?
