Cloud Raising Little Zombies

Cloud Raising Little Zombies: Chapter 1

ZOMBIE EMPEROR CULTIVATION

1.The zombie roared: “Roar——”

At night, a red blood moon hung high over the city.

In the chaotic district, humanoid monsters resembling walking corpses roared and howled.

In the room of an old apartment building, a black-haired boy opened his eyes amidst the monsters’ howls.

In the boy’s crimson, pupil-less eyes, the outline of a small room was reflected.

A refrigerator, walls, a floor-to-ceiling glass door, and the red blood moon hanging high outside…

It looked very much like a pancake covered in ketchup.

    What is a pancake?

    …So hungry.

The hunger radiating from his brain filled his entire body, the desire to eat roared within him.

The boy unconsciously opened his mouth slightly, his sharp canine teeth coated with a thin layer of light by the crimson moonlight, a blurred growl emerged from his throat.

The boy shook his head, trying to dispel the hunger occupying his brain.

Suddenly, he caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of his eye, the shaking stopped, and he turned his neck slightly to the right.

To his right, a light screen with words floated.

    What is this thing?

    “Roar——”

A roar suddenly exploded, the sound came from behind him.

The object he was leaning against shook with a “bang,” as if something was colliding from behind.

The boy leapt up suddenly, like an agile feline, instantly distancing himself from the object.

The light screen that had been quietly floating to his right moved along with him.

    Bang——

The sound of an arm colliding with an object.

The boy looked cautiously at the thing he had just bumped into; the darkness did not hinder his vision at all.

    This is… a dining table.

On the table were a bowl of cold noodles, a sticky note, an apple, and a fruit knife.

    Is it food?

A trace of doubt flashed in the boy’s eyes.

He vaguely knew these were edible, but facing them, he felt no desire to eat.

Not these; what he craved wasn’t these.

So what did he want to eat?

    Drip—

A liquid with a rusty smell slid down his arm and dripped onto the floor.

The boy raised his left arm.

On the outside of his forearm were five deep gashes, so deep the bone was visible. The flesh was turned out, fresh scabs of blood clinging to the back of his hand.

    No pain.

It seemed to be a recent injury.

    How did he get scratched?

The boy raised his hand to support his head, his crimson, pupil-less eyes filled with confusion.

    He couldn’t remember.

His mind was completely empty, not even his name existed.

Who am I? Why am I here?

    So hungry.

    What should I eat?

Roaring and crashing sounds rang out again.

The boy’s attention was drawn back to the source of the noise, which was the place he had previously been leaning against.

It was a metal door, and the growling came from outside the door.

The metal door was being pounded with a loud “bang,” but there was no sign of it loosening.

There was a pool of dark red blood at the door, with a smell similar to that of his arm injury.

Was his injury related to the thing outside banging on the door?

The boy stared quietly, his crimson, pupil-less eyes glowing with a red light as the shape of an apartment building appeared before him.

On the fourth floor, outside the room across the stairs, a burly man in long sleeves was banging on the door.

In the man’s mind, white mist swirled, and a voice emerged from the mist: “Hungry, hungry, hungry, hungry!”

    Hungry…

The boy’s mouth opened and closed uncontrollably. He was also hungry and had no food.

His eyes turned increasingly red, and agitation appeared in his gaze.

His eyes moved, gradually focusing on the light screen beside him.

The light screen was mostly blank.

In the center was a button with four characters on it.

Although there was no such text in his mind, he understood the meaning of these words as soon as he saw them.

The four characters were: Start Broadcast.

The boy’s gaze moved to the upper left corner, where there were two rows of words, large and small.

    Infinite World: Apocalypse Realm

    Challenger: Ye You

    Ye You…

The agitation in the boy’s eyes faded, and he slowly raised his hand.

A strange certainty arose within him; this was his name, the name he had forgotten.

His pale fingers touched the two characters “Ye You,” with no physical sensation.

The light screen flickered, and the “Start Broadcast” button disappeared, while a scene gradually emerged.

The background was an old apartment, and the black-haired, red-eyed boy.

Ye You blinked, and the boy on the screen blinked as well.

    ……

    Blue Star, June 27, 2033, 3 AM.

Chi Xin was an ordinary university student who was also a game UP master, internet addict, avid film fan, and low-level artist.

She was currently organizing material for the next game video but felt that something was missing.

“Hmm… I’ll go watch a livestream to find some inspiration.” Chi Xin yawned and turned her hand holding the mouse.

The computer screen switched from the video editing software interface to the JJ livestream page.

“All the streamers I follow have finished broadcasting.”

Well, it’s already 3 AM. Besides those into cultivation, everyone else is asleep; there wouldn’t be any major streamers broadcasting at this time.

Chi Xin propped up her chin and, after browsing through the game section, entered the page for new streamers.

There were very few streams still active at this time. After scrolling a few times, she found nothing interesting.

Just as she was about to exit, she noticed a newly refreshed stream.

She was immediately drawn to the stream’s cover image.

“What a stunning promotional image! Apocalypse Realm? Is this a new game? I haven’t heard of it before.”

Looking at the handsome boy with black hair and red eyes on the cover, Chi Xin felt that her tired, dry eyes were somewhat relieved. Unconsciously, she clicked on the stream.

After a brief black screen, a very dim scene gradually appeared.

A black-haired boy in a white shirt was sitting at a dining table.

The boy’s crow-like eyelashes were half-closed as if he were examining a bowl of tomato egg cold noodles in front of him, looking serious.

The room was extremely dark, but with the crimson moonlight, the boy’s skin appeared extremely pale, and his features were so handsome they seemed almost eerie.

“Wow! This character, this scene… Is this really a game? Or is the streamer secretly showing a movie?”

If it were a movie, as an experienced film fan, she had never seen this one.

    But if it’s really a game…

    Wait, where’s the control interface?

Chi Xin searched, only to see the boy, who had been thoughtfully looking at the cold noodles, suddenly raise his gaze.

His crimson, pupil-less eyes stared directly at her, as if he could see through the computer screen.

Chi Xin’s breath caught, and a chill ran down her back.

    Thump, thump.

The sound of her heart beating became exceptionally clear in the quiet night. Chi Xin felt as if she were being suppressed by some unknown presence, her heartbeat erratic and unable to move.

After an unknown amount of time, a puzzled look flashed across the face of the young man with red eyes, and he finally averted his gaze.

Chi Xin let out a long breath, pressing her rapidly beating heart.

“Phew… those crimson eyes were so terrifying, the aura was overwhelming, it felt like I was right there. This game is amazing!”

This was a game she had never seen before. As a game enthusiast, Chi Xin struggled to tear her gaze away from the stream and looked at the game introduction at the bottom.

Game Name: Infinite World · Apocalypse Realm

    Status: In Beta Testing

    Game Type: Holographic Game

    Huh?!

    A holographic game?!

Is it really a holographic game in beta testing?!

Have holographic games advanced this much already?

Chi Xin was a game enthusiast, having played almost all the well-known holographic games on the market. She was quite knowledgeable about current holographic games.

She had never seen a large-scale holographic game with such exquisite scenes.

Currently, large map holographic games have scenes that are extremely blurry, characters with 500-degree myopia, indistinguishable genders beyond 5 meters, and no distinction between people and animals beyond 50 meters.

Smaller map holographic games can approach realism, but at most, the scene is only as large as a small bedroom.

This game, “Infinite World,” couldn’t possibly be just one room big, right?

Chi Xin was skeptical. She thought for a moment and typed in the bullet screen area:

【Streamer, how big is this world?】

At this early hour, with very few viewers, the live stream had a pitifully low count of only 1 viewer.

After clicking send, her bullet screen quickly appeared in the upper right corner of the live stream.

“Surely the streamer will see it?” Chi Xin murmured.

Almost the moment her bullet screen appeared, the pale, handsome boy in the stream lifted his gaze.

Even with her previous experience, Chi Xin couldn’t help but hold her breath.

The boy’s crimson, pupil-less eyes slowly moved from left to right.

The live stream was a mirror image, and Chi Xin knew that the stunningly eerie boy was looking at her bullet screen.

With the incredibly realistic game scene and the beautifully detailed game character, this might be a groundbreaking holographic game.

Chi Xin genuinely looked forward to it.

    ….

In the darkness, Ye You watched the line of white text appear and disappear, his expression growing serious and puzzled.

He understood that “streamer” referred to him.

What exactly is this light screen? It even asks questions.

    How big is this world…

Ye You stepped onto the balcony, pulling open the glass door and finding a spot to stand among the rose vines that had overrun the area.

Tall buildings stood around, with the blood moon hanging high over the city.

Opposite were several apartment buildings; very few rooms had their lights on, though the street lamps were all lit, and strange-looking “people” wandered on the streets.

Screams and roars echoed through every corner of the city.

    【!!!】

A string of exclamation marks floated across the light screen, indicating that the entity behind the screen seemed very shocked.

Ye You waited for over ten seconds but saw no new text appear.

The hunger inside him made Ye You lose patience with waiting. He shifted his gaze and returned to the living room.

    Bang, bang—

The banging on the door started again, this time more intense than before.

The red light in Ye You’s eyes flickered as he “saw” more “people” outside banging on the door, each of them shouting “hungry, hungry, hungry.”

    He doesn’t have any food!

【Just put on the headphones and heard this sound, it scared the baby 1!】

【Apocalypse world, so are there zombies outside?】

    Headphones? Scared?

Noticing the white text appearing, Ye You blinked.

The entity behind the screen is so timid?

Ye You deliberately moved closer to the metal door.

The door was being pounded with loud bangs, and the roaring from behind it was continuous. The door seemed likely to collapse at any moment.

    【!!!】

【Streamer, what are you doing? Get a weapon quickly!】

【There must be a knife on the tea table or in the kitchen; check the drawer, there might even be a gun. It’s all part of the game routine.】

    A weapon?

Ye You vaguely sensed the goodwill behind the light screen text, which piqued some interest in him despite his brain being mostly occupied by hunger.

He did indeed remember seeing a knife on the dining table.

Following the suggestion, Ye You walked over to the table and picked up the fruit knife.

    Boom—

A loud crash echoed as the metal door fell to the ground.

    Ye You turned around.

The metal door lay on the floor with several snarling “people” lying on it.

A few of them shakily stood up, their backs arched, arms hanging limply, eyes glazed over, mouths wide open, and their canine teeth particularly sharp.

They twisted their necks as if searching for something in the room.

Soon, all their gazes fell on Ye You.

    “Roar——”

The nearest “person” let out a deep roar, stepping onto the metal door and running towards Ye You in a bizarre manner.

Despite their odd running posture, their speed was fast.

The smell of blood and decay hit Ye You’s face.

    【Ahhhhhh, bullet screen protection system!!!】

A lone line of text floated by.

Ye You gripped the fruit knife, his mouth slightly open as he let out a roar similar to the “people”:

    “Roar——”
