14. Mutant Giant Panda, White Lion, Golden Python, Tiger, Black Panther

“You can stay outside,” Ye You said, gazing at Su Zi’an.

Su Zi’an clung to Ye You’s arm. “I have to stay with you, Bro. I’m an awakened being too, so I can be of some help.”

“Then keep up,” Ye You said as he led the way into the zoo.

The zoo gates were wide open, and they entered without any obstacles.

They walked along the concrete road meant for sightseeing vehicles, with a serene lake on the left and dense trees on the right.

The black mist swirled around them, reducing visibility drastically beyond ten meters, and a hundred meters ahead, only pure darkness remained.

The black mist was so thick that even sunlight couldn’t penetrate it. Su Zi’an tied up the large black umbrella and held it in his hand like a long stick.

The mist gave Su Zi’an an unsettling feeling, as if countless eyes were watching from the shadows, ready to attack at any moment.

Ye You could no longer sense the presence of the black crystal nucleus.

The creature, likely a mutated lion, had hidden itself, lurking somewhere within the black mist.

Ye You untied the morning glory vine coiled around his left wrist.

Perhaps due to losing its crystal nucleus and being away from sunlight for a long time, the vine looked a bit wilted.

As they walked, Ye You controlled the morning glory vine to grow alongside them.

A faint floral scent spread, and wherever the vine reached, the black mist receded.

The black mist was the mutated lion’s domain, but the plants that Ye You had grown with his ability were his domain.

The light screen was bustling with activity, filled with scrolling text, and Ye You couldn’t help but glance at it.

Just as his gaze fell on the screen, Ye You suddenly sensed a surge of intense energy approaching.

He grabbed Su Zi’an and rolled them both into a nearby patch of morning glories.

The black mist blocked out the sunlight, allowing Ye You to unleash his full speed.

After evading the attack, Ye You directed some of the morning glory vines to intercept the energy.

In mid-air, the morning glory vines clashed with a mass of black mist.

The black mist abruptly leaped away and landed on the ground.

In Ye You’s crimson, pupil-less eyes, a flash of light appeared as he caught sight of a thin, old lion within the black mist.

His mental power transformed into a blade, aiming straight for the old lion’s forehead.

As fast as thought, so was the mental power—there was no way for the old lion to dodge.

“Roar—”

After enduring the strike, the old lion took a half-step back, glaring at Ye You with pitch-black eyes filled with fury before swiftly turning around and leaping into the black mist ahead.

The moment the old lion entered the black mist, Ye You lost all sense of it.

It was as if it had vanished into thin air or merged with the mist itself.

Thankfully, the flowers had been planted.

As long as that mutated lion entered the area influenced by the morning glory vines, and no black mist was nearby, the black mist surrounding the lion would become particularly conspicuous.

Ye You stood up and pulled Su Zi’an, who was clutching his arm, to his feet.

This time, he didn’t return to the plantless cement road but instead walked directly through the morning glory vines.

Faintly, he heard the pitiful “whimpering” of the morning glories.

Ye You ignored it and continued to step on them.

Seeing Ye You walking calmly ahead, Su Zi’an knew that the danger had passed for now, so he withdrew his ability that had been ready to reverse time for Ye You at any moment.

“Bro, what was that black mist just now?” Su Zi’an still felt a lingering fear.

When the black mist attacked, he hadn’t even had time to react. If his brother hadn’t pulled him away, he wasn’t sure he’d still be breathing.

“A mutated lion,” Ye You replied, sensing that some of the morning glories behind him were gradually being engulfed by the black mist. That lion was devouring his territory.

In the northeast part of the park, there was a zone not covered by the black mist, and inside were several mutated animals and human ability users.

Could it be a trap?

Having consumed two crystal nuclei, Ye You was well aware that the size of a core roughly corresponded to the strength of one’s abilities.

The mutated lion’s crystal nucleus was about the size of a peanut. Once it leaped into the black mist, it seemed to become invisible, and Ye You couldn’t figure out a way to deal with it for the time being.

But when it came to those with cores only the size of a grain of rice, Ye You was confident he could handle them.

Ye You quickly accelerated the growth of the morning glories, causing the vines to spread several meters in the blink of an eye.

At the same time, Ye You grabbed Su Zi’an and began to sprint toward the target.

“Bro?!” Su Zi’an was stunned, almost feeling like he was about to be dragged into the air.

How could anyone keep up with this kind of speed that leaves afterimages?

Just as this thought crossed his mind, Su Zi’an felt himself lifted off the ground, and then his stomach collided with something hard as the world spun around him.

After hoisting the one slowing him down, Ye You quickly arrived at the area not covered by the black mist.

This was a park surrounded by lush bamboo, with a wooden cabin in the center. In front of the cabin were various groups of animals.

Giant panda, white lion, golden python, tiger, black panther…

As they noticed the two figures emerging from the blue morning glory vines, the animals slowly stood up and let out threatening growls.
