Cloud Raising Little Zombies: Chapter 16

ZOMBIE EMPEROR CULTIVATION

16. Zombie Animals Control Contest

    【Hahaha, Da Mao 1, such a down-to-earth name. The Lion King’s majesty vanished instantly.】

【King Da Mao will reach the battlefield in five seconds. You’ve learned something you shouldn’t have, and now you all have to die.】

【I just want to know the name of that white lion outside the cabin. Er Mao 2?】

As the director spoke with Su Zi’an about the sudden changes that had occurred over the past few days, his gaze kept drifting toward Ye You.

The black-haired, red-eyed boy was fiddling with a small pouch.

Earlier, outside, the director hadn’t noticed, but now that he was closer, he realized the boy’s eyes were somewhat unusual.

“Ahem,” Su Zi’an cleared his throat, drawing the director’s attention back. “Director, what did Da Mao do after it went mad?”

The director wasn’t overly concerned about someone’s eye color—maybe they were just colored contact lenses. After all, young people these days were quite creative.

“Da Mao entered the current lion king’s territory and attacked the pride.

“I drove over with a tranquilizer gun. When I arrived, it had already slaughtered the entire pride and was feasting on the current lion king. At that time, there was a strange black mist swirling around it, extremely eerie and terrifying.

I shot it, but the tranquilizer had no effect. If I hadn’t been in the car, with the barbed wire between us, I wouldn’t have made it back.”

Su Zi’an echoed the director’s sentiments with a sympathetic expression.

He didn’t touch the apples on the table but instead opened his backpack and pulled out a pack of biscuits to munch on.

The director was surprised to see Su Zi’an taking out food.

The incident at the zoo had occurred four or five days ago, yet this visitor still had food?

However, recalling that the zoo had several food stalls, he didn’t think much of it.

The director continued, “Da Mao somehow left the lion enclosure and began attacking other animals and staff in the zoo. More and more animals went berserk, and the situation spiraled out of control.”

Su Zi’an found this strange. “With something like that happening at the zoo, didn’t the enforcement team come?”

“They didn’t. It seems there was an outbreak of an infectious disease in the city, along with a surge in criminal attacks, so they couldn’t spare the manpower.”

    The director sighed.

He couldn’t understand how so many strange events could happen all at once.

“I told the staff to evacuate and came to the panda enclosure, intending to get my daughter out. But suddenly, the black mist began to spread throughout the zoo.”

“Da Mao attacked the panda enclosure, but it was Zhi Ma who protected us and drove Da Mao away.

“On that day, many surviving animals came to the panda enclosure, and the black mist in this bamboo forest strangely started to thin out.

“But Da Mao frequently attacks the bamboo forest. Even though the animals band together, every time, some animals get bitten or taken away by it. All the animals that are bitten eventually go mad…”

As the director spoke, his eyes grew misty.

Many of the animals in the zoo had grown up under his care, and seeing the zoo reduced to this state in just a few days was heartbreaking.

“Go mad? Just like that golden python outside?” Ye You suddenly asked.

The director was momentarily stunned. He hadn’t expected the boy, who had been silently listening, to suddenly speak.

What had the boy said about the outside?

The director wiped his eyes and turned to look out the window.

He saw a golden python, thicker than a full-grown man, with its jaws wide open, swallowing a white goose the size of a peacock in one gulp.

As the goose slid down its throat, black saliva dripped from the python’s mouth, and its now-blood-red eyes scanned the animals in the zoo before it slithered toward the white lion lying on the ground.

“Yes, just like that,” the director said, then realized what was happening and jumped up in shock.

How could the golden python suddenly go mad?!

    His daughter was still outside!

The little girl was lying on top of the white lion’s head, comforting the just-awakened big cat.

Suddenly, she caught sight of a golden blur racing toward her and froze in place.

    “Roar—”

Sensing the killing intent, the white lion stood up and instinctively took a defensive stance.

It lunged forward, ready to kill the frenzied python, but the terrified cry from above reminded it that a small, fragile cub was still on its head.

The white lion quickly turned and dashed toward the cabin.

The golden python also changed its course.

Just as it was about to bite the white lion, its body suddenly stretched into a straight line.

Something had grabbed hold of its tail, preventing it from moving.

The golden python turned its head, its blood-red eyes locking onto the large fat tiger biting the tip of its tail.

    “Hiss—”

    “Roar—”

Snake and tiger clashed, chaos erupted in the bamboo forest.

【I’ve watched dozens of wildlife documentaries, seen all kinds of scenes, but I’ve never seen anything like this.】

    【Go, Fat Tiger! Smash that snake’s head!】

【Go, Snake! Today, my great snake will show you all who the true king of the forest is!】

Ye You stood by the window, but his gaze was fixed on the black mist swirling outside.

He could “see” many animals rapidly approaching the bamboo forest.

The black mist blocked his sense of the old lion, but it didn’t block his perception of other creatures.

The animals moving closer through the black mist had blood-red, murky eyes, with black liquid dripping from their mouths.

Unlike the animals in the bamboo forest, these creatures had no reason, only a primal hunting instinct.

They were like the difference between humans and ordinary zombies.

    These animals were zombified.

    “Yinyin!”

The director had already rushed outside the cabin, calling out his daughter’s name in desperation.

The white lion stopped in front of the cabin and lowered its massive head.

“Give your hand to Daddy.” The director extended his hand toward the girl.

She reached out, and the director quickly grabbed her, pulling her down from the white lion’s head and into his arms.

“Thank you, Mao Mao,” the director said, his voice trembling with emotion as he thanked the white lion.

The white lion didn’t linger, immediately turning to rejoin the battle.

Ye You noticed that not all the animals were fighting the golden python; many were keeping their distance, seemingly afraid of being caught in the crossfire.

“Ge,” Su Zi’an came up to Ye You, nervously asking, “Are we just going to watch?”

Ye You shot Su Zi’an a sidelong glance. “You’ve used all your power to restore me. No matter what happens next, stay here and don’t go out.”

【So that’s why Su Zi’an’s face turned pale as soon as he touched Zai Zai’s hand outside—he was recharging Zai Zai with his power.】

【Ye Zai: You’re just a power bank. Just stay under my protection.】

    【Haha, Su Zi’an, accept your role—you really are just a power bank.】

Suddenly, Ye You sensed a familiar black crystal nucleus appear within his perception.

He looked toward one side of the bamboo forest, where tendrils of black mist were seeping in, rapidly approaching the area where the battle was taking place outside the cabin.

Ye You’s lips curled into a smile. “Finally here.”

The blue morning glories bloomed, releasing a hallucinogenic fragrance that spread through the air.

Ye You pushed open the window, propped himself on the windowsill, and leaped out.

    【Zai Zai jumped again!】

    【Zai who never uses doors.】

    【Rou Si 3! If you jump, I’ll jump too!】

【Haha, Zai Zai closed the window behind him, just in time to bump his brother’s head as he peeked out.】

Strange-looking animals began to emerge from the black mist, charging towards the animals in the bamboo forest.

The giant panda, Zhi Ma, raised a paw and slammed it down on the ground.

A two-meter-high earthen wall shot up, blocking the path of the zombified animals.

    “Roar—”

A hoarse lion’s roar echoed through the bamboo forest, and the zombified animals parted to create a path.

A zombified elephant, towering several meters high, charged out of the bamboo forest and collided with the earthen wall, shattering it instantly.

The zombified animals roared as they rushed in.

The old lion briefly appeared within the bamboo forest, leaping across and leaving deep claw marks on the white lion’s back.

The white lion immediately turned, roaring as it lunged at the old lion.

But the old lion dissolved into wisps of black mist.

Suddenly, a zombified elephant charged forward.

It raised its front legs high and stomped down on the black mist.

The black mist quickly moved, darting under the zombified elephant’s belly.

The old lion’s form reappeared for a moment.

It didn’t look at the white lion it had just clawed, nor did it acknowledge the zombified elephant that had suddenly betrayed it. Instead, it fixed its blood-red eyes on Ye You, who stood in front of the wooden cabin, eyes full of ferocity.

Low-level zombified animals instinctively obey higher-level zombified creatures.

This was how the old lion had managed to gather so many zombified animals.

But just now, the old lion sensed a force controlling the zombified elephant.

That controlling force came from the human with red eyes.

One by one, the zombified animals began to move towards the old lion; they were all under that human’s control.

“Roar—” The old lion let out a loud roar, trying to reclaim its control over the zombified animals.

This was a battle for dominance.

Ye You didn’t roar back. Instead, he silently intensified his mental control over the zombified animals.

The energy from the colorless crystal nucleus in Ye You’s mind was rapidly being depleted.

Zombified animals had essentially become zombies, creatures driven solely by their hunting instincts, making them the easiest to control.

But the old lion was a level higher than Ye You, making it difficult to wrest control from it.

As Ye You and the old lion faced off, the zombified animals hesitated for a moment before charging at the old lion with even greater speed than before.

Even the zombified elephant stepped back half a pace before raising its front foot high again.

The old lion let out an enraged roar.

It had miscalculated—the greatest threat wasn’t the ugly white lion, but that human.

The old lion’s figure once again dissolved into wisps of black mist. The mist weaved through the horde of zombified animals, either dodging or crashing through them, all while heading straight for Ye You.

Ye You remained still. As he continued to control the zombified animals to attack the old lion, he also activated his plant ability, accelerating the growth of the morning glories and bamboo.

The morning glories, already spread throughout the bamboo forest, rapidly grew.

The vines of the morning glories entwined with the bamboo on the perimeter, forming a hollow cylindrical structure dozens of meters high.

The entire bamboo forest was encased within it.

Ye You wasn’t going to give the old lion another chance to escape.

The scent of the morning glories continued to spread.

The director and the little girl had already collapsed at the door of the wooden cabin, dizzy from the fragrance, while even Su Zi’an, who had been watching from the window, began to look dazed.

And the mutated animals? They all staggered as if they had drunk bad liquor, stumbling with every step.

    Ye You had no choice.

The hallucinogenic effect of the floral scent was an indiscriminate attack.

He could only control whether the morning glory vines bloomed or not; he couldn’t decide who would be affected by the fragrance and who wouldn’t.

As for the old lion, its level was too high, and it still retained its consciousness.

It felt like one of those situations where you hurt your enemy by 800 but harm yourself by 1,000.

However, Ye You never considered the conscious mutated animals to be on his side.

Ye You stretched out his hand and beckoned the white lion, which seemed as if it had also drunk bad liquor.

The white lion obediently approached Ye You without any resistance, lowering its head submissively.

In fact, Ye You had some degree of control over not just zombies but also espers and mutated animals.

However, controlling a conscious being was much harder than controlling a zombie.

But with the added effect of the morning glories’ hallucinogenic fragrance, it didn’t take much mental effort for Ye You to control the white lion.

Ye You leaped onto the white lion’s back.

When he had jumped onto the white lion’s back earlier, he had thought that it would be quite a good ride, and now he had the opportunity.

Ye You gripped the lion’s mane at the back of its neck with his left hand, while his right hand slightly raised, breaking off a bamboo branch entangled with morning glory vines.

The morning glory vines twisted and grew.

A long spear formed from the bamboo and several morning glory vines appeared in Ye You’s hand.

At this moment, the old lion had also torn its way out of the encirclement of mutated animals.

The black mist around it had faded, revealing its emaciated lion’s body.

Roaring, the old lion charged towards Ye You.

Ye You controlled the white lion to charge at the old lion, thrusting the spear in his hand toward it.

The old lion dodged the attack by sidestepping and twisted its body to swipe at Ye You, who was on the white lion’s back.

Ye You lowered his body, burying his face into the white lion’s mane to avoid the swipe, while simultaneously directing the white lion to bite at the old lion.

The two beasts were locked in a fierce struggle for a long time.

The white lion’s body was covered in wounds, and the black mist surrounding the old lion had completely dissipated, indicating that its powers were likely exhausted.

The old lion’s eyes gradually dulled, and it let out a low growl. As Ye You swung the spear again, the old lion suddenly bit down on it.

It yanked forcefully, trying to pull Ye You off the white lion’s back.

But unexpectedly, Ye You let go of the spear.

Morning glories began to grow in the old lion’s mouth, spreading down its throat and into its stomach, where they continued to grow inside its body.

With the scent of morning glories filling the air, the old lion collapsed to the ground.

Sitting on the white lion’s back, Ye You looked down at the old lion, his scarlet, pupil-less eyes filled with both desire and satisfaction.

“You’re mine now,” Ye You said, as he saw the black crystal nucleus, the size of a peanut, through the white lion’s head.

He then directed the badly injured white lion to raise its paw and strike down at the old lion.
