Cloud Raising Little Zombies

Cloud Raising Little Zombies: Chapter 3

3. Plant Based Superpower.

As Ye You descended, the rose vines entwined around his legs were severed one by one, detaching from their branches.

Ye You landed in the rose bush, the thorns tearing his clothes.

He couldn’t feel pain, so he didn’t care about the injuries on his body.

He actively burrowed into the rose bush where the main stem was located, allowing the mutant rose leaves to shield him from the sun.

The rose vines around him grew at a visible rate.

Though visible, it was too slow—only a few centimeters per second—while Ye You’s movements in the shadows were much faster.

Ye You approached the main stem of the rose bush, carrying a machete.

This mutant rose bush’s main stem was about a meter thick, sturdier than an average tree.

Ye You gripped the machete with both hands and swung it down.

He was no longer using a fruit knife, but a heavy cleaver from the kitchen meant for chopping bones.

Thud—

The cleaver embedded itself halfway into the mutant rose’s main stem.

The thorny vines thrashed wildly, and an angry screech could faintly be heard.

The zombies also began to roar as they approached.

They carried various tools, including some elderly zombies holding pruning shears and chainsaws, exuding a fierce aura.

Ye You directed the zombies to clear the rose’s branches.

He grabbed a chainsaw himself and, aiming at the quickly healing cut, activated it.

The sounds of sawing, chopping, zombie growling, and branches thrashing and breaking mixed together.

Residents still hiding in the apartment building shrank back, trembling at the terrifying noises.

After a while, a little boy noticed light coming through.

The dense rose vines covering the bedroom window were retreating.

“Mom, Dad, look,” the boy excitedly grabbed his parents’ arms.

The haggard couple exchanged a glance. The man picked up a nearby baseball bat and cautiously approached the window.

He looked down.

The next moment, his expression became one of extreme astonishment.

“Have the monsters left?” The woman came to his side, nervously holding his hand.

“The zombies… they’re cutting down the rose bush,” the man said in a daze, almost unable to believe what he was seeing.

Three nights ago, a red moon rose, causing the apartment complex to lose internet, power, and signal.

Many people went mad, turning into creatures with no memory, no reason, only a primal instinct to feed.

They ate raw meat, animals, and even humans.

They could no longer be called humans—they were monsters known as zombies.

Zombies only moved at night.

Some people left the apartment complex the next morning, but those who didn’t never had the chance to leave.

By that morning, the roses in the courtyard had begun to grow wildly.

By noon, they had covered the entire courtyard, and when people ventured out unguarded, the vines wrapped around them.

The roses pulled them underground, and those people never reappeared.

These rose vines were incredibly resilient, impervious to fire and herbicides.

If not for their slow movement and only growing in sunlight, who knows how many more people would have become their nourishment.

Zombies and the rose bush together had trapped them in the apartment.

The apartment building had become a hunting ground, with them as the prey.

And now, the zombies, who never moved during the day, were in the courtyard in droves, attacking the rose bush!

No one could believe what they were seeing.

“Heavens, what are they holding?”

“Machetes, axes, chainsaws! Zombies actually using weapons!”

“If they use those weapons to attack the door, how would we survive?”

In the courtyard, the zombies were cooperating seamlessly, as if they were one entity.

Some zombies were trimming the rose vines, some were carrying the trimmed vines to throw them on the cement ground to prevent them from taking root and regenerating, and others were using various tools to dig the soil.

The roots of the rose bush gradually became exposed to the air.

The mutant rose bush had incredibly strong regenerative abilities, capable of regrowing even if its main stem was cut.

Ye You stayed by the main stem, repeatedly sawing through it.

Each time the stem was severed, the mutant rose bush would temporarily lose control over its other branches, needing to expend energy to grow new ones.

With each bout of energy consumption, the root system containing the mutant rose’s crystal nucleus was gradually exposed from the soil.

Ye You had switched to an axe, directly aiming at the thick roots encasing the crystal nucleus.

Thud—

The axe embedded deeply into the root system, and the rose vines ceased to grow.

Ye You slowly but powerfully swung the axe, chopping away all the woody roots surrounding the crystal nucleus.

A green crystal, about the size of a grain of rice, was revealed.

The feeling of hunger and the craving for food peaked at that moment.

The zombies became agitated, their mouths splitting open to reveal sharp teeth on both sides.

Tools fell to the ground as the zombies began to move, slowly and stiffly, toward the main stem of the rose bush.

Ye You bent down, picked up the green crystal, and swallowed it whole.

The crystal was so small he didn’t even taste it.

But in the next moment, Ye You felt the overwhelming hunger that had occupied most of his mind dissipate.

His body became lighter, the oppressive feeling that surrounded him in the sunlight was halved, and the rate of his corruption returned to five percent.

Ye You carefully sensed the changes in his body.

Slowly straightening up, his crimson, pupil-less eyes moved, surveying the zombies that had vaguely surrounded him.

“Roar—” Ye You growled softly, his mental power spreading out.

The absolute suppression of a high-level zombie over lower-level ones made the zombies stop their actions in unison.

They bowed their heads respectfully.

He no longer needed to control them deliberately; he had absolute control over them naturally.

Ye You’s gaze fell on the shattered tree trunk, and with a slight thought, a bit of green appeared at the edge of the trunk.

It sprouted and grew straight, finally blooming into a blood-red rose in front of Ye You.

In the messy, destroyed courtyard, all the fallen branches took root and grew again.

Centered on Ye You, roses bloomed one after another.

This was a new ability.

Ye You’s lips curved slightly.

【Streamer: Mom no longer needs to worry about me not being able to keep plants alive, proud.jpg】

【Zai Zai’s clothes are all torn, with so many scratches on him, sob sob, Zai Zai has sacrificed too much for just a bite to eat.】

【Let’s interview the streamer: can you taste things in this game? What does the mutant plant’s crystal nucleus taste like?】

【Being able to play as a zombie in a post-apocalyptic holographic game, with this level of modeling and light effects… I need all the information about this game in three minutes!】

Ye You glanced at the light screen beside him and was stunned.

Why were there so many words? Every one or two seconds, new text appeared, and from the tone and content, it was clear that these words were not coming from just one person.

Had the entities behind the light screen increased?

Ye You then noticed an additional section on the right side of the light screen.

From top to bottom, it read: Points, Rewards.

Points: 5.

Rewards: 10.

At that moment, a shower of lollipops began to fall on the light screen.

【”Stars in the Pond” sent the streamer “Ye You” 100 lollipops: Daylight has come, Mom is going to sleep, Zai Zai, you need to rest well too~】

Ye You noticed that after this message floated by, the rewards column increased by 100, and the points column increased by 50.

So, as long as the entities behind the light screen sent him lollipops, the rewards and points would increase.

Which brings up the question.

Where are his 100, no, 110 lollipops?
