Cloud Raising Little Zombies: Chapter 38
NECROMANCER GOD’S CULTIVATION
38. Cloud Raising Little Skeletons
Skeleton soldiers are group-oriented undead creatures.
Each group of skeleton soldiers marches in orderly formations, tirelessly patrolling a designated area, much like soldiers surveying their territory.
The new skeleton soldier group Ye You had located was larger than the one he had just contracted, numbering over 800 skeleton soldiers in total.
From afar, Lucy already felt that capturing all these skeleton soldiers was impossible.
If a necromancer is skilled, they need only five or six bone skeletons to deal with one isolated skeleton soldier.
But subduing a unified group of skeleton soldiers requires ten or even twenty times as many bone skeletons.
Even combining her and Ye You’s bone skeletons, they had less than 10,000. Adding Ye You’s 190-some contracted skeleton soldiers still didn’t guarantee victory.
But they didn’t need to subdue all the skeleton soldiers.
As long as one of Ye You’s contracted undead could grab her a single skeleton soldier’s skull, that would suffice.
Ye You directed the bone skeleton horde, maneuvering to surround the 800 skeleton soldiers.
Lucy walked up to him and asked, “Do you need my help?”
Ye You replied, “Once the bone skeletons separate them, I’ll have my skeleton soldiers drive some over. How many can you handle?”
Lucy’s eyes widened in delight—did that mean however many she could handle would be hers?
Lucy knew the strength of skeleton soldiers. After calculating her bone skeletons’ capabilities, she gritted her teeth and gave a number: “One hundred skeleton soldiers.”
Her bone skeletons alone might not be enough, but as a Level 1 apprentice necromancer, she could give it her all.
If she succeeded, she wouldn’t just become a Level 2 apprentice mage but would also gain a significant number of skeleton soldiers.
She might even have a shot at the necromancy class evaluation in a week.
The skeleton soldiers, surrounded by bone skeletons, quickly entered combat mode.
Instead of scattering toward the bone skeletons on all sides, they stood in formation and charged in unison toward one direction, weapons in hand.
The bone skeletons sprang into action.
They ran at the skeleton soldier group from all directions, sacrificing themselves one by one to isolate the soldiers into smaller groups.
Ye You targeted one small group that had been separated and commanded his contracted skeleton soldiers to drive them toward him.
Lucy understood these were for her and immediately had her bone skeletons take over.
From that point, it was no longer Ye You’s responsibility. He withdrew his skeleton soldiers and sent them back into the fray.
Bit by bit, Ye You fragmented the skeleton soldier group.
The fewer skeleton soldiers standing together, the easier they were to deal with.
As the battle grew fiercer, Ye You heard a girl’s voice not far away chanting a spell he had never heard before.
As the final words of the incantation fell, Lucy pointed with a flourish, and a white bone arrow shot forth.
The arrow struck the arm of a skeleton soldier holding a blade, instantly severing it.
《Bone Arrow》, a Level 1 necromancy spell, boasted exceptional penetration and a range of 50 meters.
Watching the now one-armed skeleton soldier being swarmed by several bone skeletons, which promptly dismantled its shield-bearing left arm, Lucy couldn’t help but smile.
The Bone Arrow was the most powerful offensive spell among Level 1 necromancy spells, but it also consumed a great deal of undead magic.
Just one arrow had cost Lucy one-tenth of her undead magic reserves.
With ten Bone Arrows, she could cripple the combat abilities of ten skeleton soldiers, leaving the rest to her bone skeletons.
Just as she prepared to cast again, she suddenly heard a familiar chant beside her—the incantation for Bone Arrow!
Lucy abruptly turned to look at Ye You.
He could actually use *Bone Arrow*?
That spell hadn’t been taught by their necromancy instructor, Xia Zuo!
Lucy had learned *Bone Arrow* because she came from a family of necromancers.
Even those with magical talent detected at an early age wouldn’t be able to condense magic power and become a proper mage until adulthood.
But memorizing spells didn’t require necromantic magic.
For someone like Lucy, born into a magical family, her childhood homework involved studying magical knowledge and reciting spells.
The *Bone Arrow* incantation was more complex than *Nether Fire* and wasn’t something a mere level-1 apprentice necromancer could easily master.
In the end, Lucy attributed Ye You’s ability to cast such spells to his mysterious teacher.
A bone arrow shot out.
Lucy calmed herself, preparing to continue dealing with the skeleton soldiers, when she heard Ye You’s chanting start up again.
Another bone arrow flew out.
This time, the chanting didn’t stop—then came a third bone arrow, a fourth…
Lucy: “…”
Level-2 apprentice mages sure have a lot of magic power.
Grinding her teeth in frustration, Lucy’s brilliant blue eyes reignited with fighting spirit as she turned her focus back to the skeleton soldiers.
Ye You used the newly learned necromancy spell to slowly wear down the skeleton soldiers’ combat strength.
This battle ended even faster than the last one. In just over half an hour, Ye You had subdued over 700 skeleton soldiers.
Of course, his contracted undead creatures suffered heavy losses. Only a few hundred bone skeletons remained, and the skeleton soldiers were nearly wiped out.
Lucy wasn’t in much better shape.
She only had two bone skeletons left, and on the battlefield stood one intact skeleton soldier.
Her face turned pale.
She still had a tenth of her magic power left.
One more *Bone Arrow* would cripple the skeleton soldier’s combat capabilities.
But if she used up all her magic power, without necromantic magic enveloping her body, she would instantly return to the magical realm.
By the time she meditated to recover her magic and returned to the necromantic realm, who knew if these hard-won skeleton soldiers would still be there?
Just as Lucy hesitated, a *Bone Arrow* shot out from the side, severing the skeleton soldier’s right arm holding the bone knife.
Lucy froze.
Realizing it was Ye You’s doing, she immediately commanded her two remaining skeletons to attack from both sides.
Their bony claws slashed, quickly dismantling the last skeleton soldier.
As the skeleton soldier collapsed to the ground, Lucy let out a long sigh of relief.
She turned to thank him, only to find that Ye You had already moved away.
He was walking toward the battlefield littered with bones.
Lucy, who had been focused on the hundred skeleton soldiers earlier, only now noticed that Ye You had already dealt with all the skeleton soldiers.
That was over 700 skeleton warriors!
How on earth had he managed that?
【Waaah, all the skeletons I ordered are gone. My youth is over!】
【These skeletons all look the same. I’m curious—how can you even tell which one you ordered?】
【What, you think I wouldn’t keep my camera fixed on my family’s adorable little skeleton the whole time?】
【Adorable? Skeleton? Uh, are you okay? Xiao Wen Hao 1, do you have many friends?】
Ye You reached the edge of the battlefield and began chanting softly.
He cast necromantic contract spells on skeleton soldiers that had lost arms, legs, or even just had their heads remaining.
【Cloud Raising Little Skeleton” sent streamer “Ye You” 1,000 lollipops: Zai! I want to place an order! That skeleton soldier you’re contracting now—I want it!】
【Cloud Raising Little Skeleton” sent streamer “Ye You” 1,000 lollipops: Also, can you carve a name on its head? Call it ‘Xiao Gutou 2.’ Isn’t that an adorable name?】
While repairing a skeleton soldier, Ye You glanced at the comments and casually used his mental power to carve three characters on the freshly repaired skeleton soldier’s head.
【??? Wait, you can do that? My youth is back!】
【Zai Zai! I want one too! Carve ‘Zai Zai #2’ on mine!】
TN:
Honestly, Necromancy is one of my favorite summoner classes. It’s perfectly suited for salted fish personality. And it is OP as hell! You just need to summon a bunch of undead then sit on your skeleton throne while they fight for you~ And there is an unending stream of minions as long as you have enough mana. Just look at Sung “Drip” Woo and tell me I’m not right. If you are a fan of this genre like I am, here are some mahwas I’ve read that have necromancy:
- Solo Leveling – Some say it’s overrated but this is my second favorite manhwa to date. I loved everything about it! The battles were epic! Left me on the edge of my seat every time. And the art!!! So beautiful. I was so glad I started reading it when it was close to finishing coz it would have been unbearable waiting for chapters. It has everything you could want in a manhwa. And I’m now currently following Ragnarok.
- Kill The Hero – Regression, revenge, leveling up – Triple Kill. I liked how they depicted “saviors”. Kinda like in The Boys. And the villain is blonde like Homelander haha. Let’s be honest, if dungeons gave you the power to lord over the entire world and riches beyond measure, would you really want to end it?
- Seoul Station Necromancer – I really liked MC’s personality in this one. That no BS get shit done and go. He’s also physically strong and doesn’t need to fully depend on his summons to fight. He was practically Tarzan in Alphen😂.
- SSS-Class Revival Hunter – MC is basically a necromancer ad a summon himself💀. If you look for the meaning of “Be careful what you wish for” in the dictionary, you’ll find his face there!
- Necromancer’s Evolutionary Traits – Recently started this one so I don’t really have an opinion on how good it is but so far it’s interesting.
