5. He has a younger brother?

The Water Zombie’s attempt to control the water flow and push the rose vines away was too late. The rose vines lifted it up and hurled it heavily towards Ye You.

The water columns attacking Ye You had already scattered due to losing control.

Ye You glanced at the incoming zombie and picked up a long knife from a wrecked car.

This was something the entities behind the screen had taught him: if weapons were available, there was no need to fight bare-handed.

【How did the streamer manage such nimble dodges? Is it a game skill or something the streamer trained personally?】

【High energy alert ahead! Get ready with the bullet screen protection!】

Ye You anticipated the Water Zombie’s landing position when suddenly, a screen appeared right in front of him.

A reminder window popped up.

Ye You briefly focused on the screen before ignoring it.

He crouched, leaped, and swung his knife down at the landing Water Zombie.

【Bullet screen protection… huh? Stuck?】

【Stuck at a weird place.】

Ye You crouched on the ground, reached out to pick up the blood-stained crystal nucleus, and put it into his pocket as a reserve supply.

The clash with the Water Zombie seemed straightforward but was extremely dangerous.

If Ye You hadn’t precisely dodged the water columns’ attacks, being hit by the water columns connected to the river could have meant his death right from the start.

It was also because the Water Zombie focused all its attention on Ye You that Ye You’s controlled rose leaves could take root and grow while the opponent was completely defenseless, achieving success.

Ye You stood up and took a few steps. His shoes and pant legs, soaked by the water, felt heavier than usual.

An uncomfortable feeling.

Ye You’s gaze shifted to the screen on his right.

The screen that had appeared directly in front of Ye You earlier had returned to its original position.

Ye You noticed that the amount of text on the screen had doubled compared to before.

Are there more entities behind the screen now?

【Streamer: Thanks for the invite, I was on the bridge and just dealt with a food ingredient.】

Mosaic?

The moment Ye You saw those words appear, he naturally understood their meaning.

He recalled the screen that had suddenly appeared in front of him, which had also shown those words.

Ye You pushed the screen away.

On the screen, he saw that the ground around him was covered with small mosaic blocks.

Especially around the Water Zombie’s head, where the blocks were densely packed.

Looking at other areas of the screen, Ye You noticed that the donation amount had increased to 210, while his score had dropped to 5.

Clearly, while he was focused on the Water Zombie, some entities behind the screen had sent him 100 lollipops or virtual items equivalent to 100 lollipops.

Ye You glanced at the zombie with a blown-off head at his feet.

But if the entities behind the screen care about appetite issues, their lives must be quite comfortable, at least not lacking in food.

Ye You silently made a decision.

He would stock up on crystal nuclei, so he wouldn’t lack food in the future.

The points increased by 5.

Ye You glanced at the points in the top right corner and reached into his pocket to pull out the crystal nucleus.

It was fine to just show them the stored food. They certainly couldn’t come out of the screen and take his food.

“……” Ye You watched the screen with some caution.

Shouldn’t… anything come out, right?

Ye You took out the crystal nucleus along with a piece of paper.

Hmm? When did this piece of paper appear in his pocket?

Was it something from before?

Ye You focused on the name “Su Zi’an” at the end of the note, frowning slightly.

He had been too focused on foraging to properly check the room where he woke up.

So he had a younger brother?

Should he go look for him?

But how to find him? Where is the school?

Ye You sniffed the note. It had a mixed smell of tomato, ham, and sauce vinegar.

He removed the note and took a deep breath of the air.

Blood, rotting corpses, gasoline, river water…

Nothing.

Ye You carefully analyzed the various smells and suddenly heard a faint sobbing.

He turned his head toward the source of the sound.

It was coming from the car that had been washed by the Water Zombie earlier.

Ye You bent down, took a rose from the Water Zombie, and walked toward the black car.

At the same time, he spread out his mental energy.

Inside the car was a young boy and a man and woman.

Familiar mental fluctuations.

They were residents of that apartment building. When he was leading the zombies to trim the rose vines, they had left through the back door.

Stopping by the car, Ye You poked the car window with the rose vine, looking through the window at the family of three inside.

As Ye You was considering how to open the window, it descended automatically.

Inside the car, the pale-faced man faced Ye You, his elbow resting on the steering wheel, silently protecting the woman and boy in the passenger seat.

“Thank you, thank you for saving us,” the man said nervously, staring at Ye You. He swallowed, trying to control the tremor in his voice, and continued, “You’re an ability user, right? We saw another ability user in the North District who could fly in the sky.”

“You know me.” Ye You’s tone was certain.

The man shivered, forcing a smile, “We’re residents of the same building. It’s not hard to recognize a familiar face.”

“Then you know which school my brother is at?” Ye You played with the rose in his hand.

“Y-Yi Zhong.” The man’s gaze fell on the rose, his heart almost leaping out of his chest.

Ye You said, “Take me there.”

“…Alright.”

The man glanced back at his wife and child, forcing a smile as he got out of the car and opened the rear door for Ye You.

They had sneaked out of the apartment with only two backpacks of basic food and clothing, so there was ample space in the backseat for Ye You to sit comfortably.

Ye You took his seat in the back.

【Hehe, Zai Zai is hitching a ride.】

【Zai Zai: See this flower in my hand? If you don’t take me, it’ll bloom on your head.】

【It’s a life-saving grace; hitching a ride is nothing.】

Ye You’s crimson eyes calmly watched the road ahead.

Through the car’s rearview mirror, he saw the woman in the passenger seat signaling to the child in her arms to be silent.

The child, with tear streaks on his face, glanced timidly toward the backseat from the woman’s shoulder.

When the child’s gaze met Ye You’s, he quickly snuggled back into the woman’s arms, sniffling.

The car started moving, crossing a bridge covered in water and roses.

Ten minutes later, the car slowed down.

The man kept glancing at the side of the road and muttered, “Why are there only mountains? It should be around here. Where did it go?”

Ye You looked through the car window at the green, low mountains outside, then turned to look at the screen beside him.

The screen showed his face and the desolate school gate outside the window.

【We’ve arrived at the school. Why isn’t the car stopping? What’s the driver looking for?】

【The area outside the school is so empty, not even zombies around.】

It seemed the school was hidden from view, invisible to the naked eye, but the screen was reflecting it.

Was it some kind of biological ability?

Ye You said to the driver, “Stop here.”

“Oh, okay.” The man hurriedly stopped the car.

Ye You set the rose aside, opened the car door, and got out.

Closing the door, Ye You gave a slight nod to the people inside the car, signaling that they could leave.

The black car slowly started, then abruptly accelerated, speeding away from Ye You.
