Cloud Raising Little Zombies: Chapter 7
ZOMBIE EMPEROR CULTIVATION
7. It’s dead, you’re going to die too.
Ye You saw the bullet screen and suddenly remembered his purpose for coming to the school.
He still had a brother at the school.
Perhaps he might find some of his past memories there.
Ye You wasn’t particularly curious about his past, but he wouldn’t refuse the chance to learn about it if given the opportunity.
He took out the note from his pocket, sniffed it at his nose, and then tried to identify the surrounding air’s scents.
Morning Glory fragrance, blood, decay…
Ye You picked out the tangy scent of the over-vinegared tomato and ham cold noodles from the chaotic mix of smells.
That’s it.
Ye You followed the scent.
Suddenly, a crowd of people rushed out from behind the teaching building, their eyes full of desperation, and Ye You was swept into the crowd.
The pushing of the crowd made it difficult for Ye You to reach his intended destination.
“Ahhh! Get away, you monster!”
“Wuwu, run, run…”
Those running behind suddenly noticed that the zombies chasing them had stopped. They stood at the road’s entrance as if obeying a red light.
No matter why the zombies had stopped, the most important thing was to escape this hellish school.
The crowd continued to push towards the school gate.
A long-haired girl in a white school uniform suddenly saw a young boy squeeze out beside her.
He was young, and seemed to be a student as well.
His skin was so pale it was almost translucent, and his eyes were also light-colored. He looked somewhat like a red moon in the apocalyptic world.
The long-haired girl’s gaze lingered on his face for only a moment before she hurriedly leaned forward to block the gap in front of her.
Even if he was handsome, she wouldn’t let him get ahead of her!
The students in front suddenly quickened their pace.
Her leaning forward not only failed to fill the gap but nearly caused her to fall.
In that moment of instability, the girl instinctively grabbed the arm of the person beside her to steady herself.
Rip—
The sound of tearing fabric echoed.
The girl stabilized herself and looked up to see she was holding a section of a white shirt sleeve.
This sleeve… belonged to that very handsome boy.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry…” The long-haired girl hurriedly apologized, her gaze falling on the boy’s arm, and she gasped, almost crying out in surprise.
A fierce and terrifying scratch mark was on the boy’s arm, with the skin around it appearing grayish-white and dotted with gray spots…
It looked like the necrotic spots on a zombie’s body.
The girl tremblingly looked up and saw that the handsome, eerie boy was looking at the half-sleeve she was holding, with a slight look of displeasure.
His thin red lips moved slightly, and the long-haired girl vaguely heard a barely audible “okay.”
“Roar—” The nearby zombies suddenly roared.
The long-haired girl trembled in fear, and the crowd grew even more chaotic.
In the next moment, a series of roars erupted from various parts of the school, as if all the zombies in the school had come to life.
The crowd surged forward with even greater frenzy.
The long-haired girl, forgetting her confusion and fear, was swept along with the crowd.
As she approached the school gate, she realized she was still holding onto a half-sleeve. She instinctively looked back.
She saw from a distance that the boy in the white shirt with the missing sleeve walked past several zombies.
Those zombies seemed blind, letting a living person walk past them while keeping their heads down and remaining motionless.
Recalling the arm she had seen up close, the long-haired girl couldn’t help but be puzzled.
Could it really be a living person…
Meanwhile, Ye You tugged at his sleeve, which was now only half intact and couldn’t cover his arm.
He wasn’t afraid of the corruption; after all, corrupted blood had corrosive properties and could enhance his combat abilities.
It was just that the beings behind the screen would be scared when they saw a zombie’s face, and seeing his hand would surely shock them.
Sometimes those beings were fearless, and other times they were as timid as the long-haired girl had been.
Ye You clearly saw that the girl’s expression turned even more terrified when she noticed his arm.
The wound on his left arm looked even more horrifying now.
With a daily corruption rate of 5%, and 25% under sunlight.
Although the corruption rate decreased by 5% per day after consuming the Blood Rose crystal nucleus, the fact remained that Ye You had spent most of the day under sunlight.
Now his entire left arm, including the back of his hand, was covered in corpse spots.
【Why is Zai Zai’s left arm pixelated?】
【Is it an injury? When did he get hurt?】
【I entered the stream when the broadcaster jumped off the building; he was already injured then, but the injury was covered by clothes, so I didn’t know how severe it was.】
【Did Zai Zai really jump off a building?!!】
【Does this game allow for pain adjustments? What’s the minimum pain level? It looks so painful. Can he find some medicine or a first aid kit?】
【Forget the game plot for now; go check out the school infirmary first.】
【Yes, yes, yes, forget about the younger brother. Important NPCs either won’t die for a while or are destined to die anyway. It doesn’t matter if you go early or late; Zai Zai is the most important.】
Ye You glanced at the rolling barrage of comments, his eyes flashing slightly.
He hesitated for a moment before explaining, “Zombies don’t feel pain. The state of my arm is just normal zombie corruption, so there’s no need for medication.”
Medication wouldn’t help anyway.
【As long as it doesn’t hurt, it’s a bit better.】
【Normal corruption? Does that mean Zai Zai will end up like those zombies?】
【Dog developers not acting like humans!】
【Give me an official website link. I’ll take my 108-key photon keyboard and send the developers to the sky.】
Ye You watched the comments scrolling by with interest, and before he realized it, he had arrived in front of a dormitory building.
The smell from the note was coming from inside.
Ye You stepped up the stairs and was about to enter the dormitory when a group of seven boys ran out in a panic.
Seeing someone at the door, a few of them immediately turned to run back, with the chubby boy holding an iron clothes rack nearly swinging it at Ye You.
When the chubby boy saw Ye You’s face, he halted the clothes rack mid-air.
“You’re… Su Zi’an’s brother?” The chubby boy’s breath hitched as he instinctively glanced at the skinny boy at the back.
Without waiting for Ye You to say anything, he quickly shouted, “It’s none of my business!”
He then abruptly turned and sprinted away with the clothes rack at an unexpectedly fast speed.
The remaining boys glanced at Ye You, exchanged looks, and hurriedly passed by him, running off as well.
The last, somewhat skinny boy walked past Ye You with his head down, a drop of cold sweat sliding down his forehead.
【What’s up with these people?】
【What did that fat guy mean? Do they know Zai Zai’s younger brother and even Zai Zai himself?】
【So where is the younger brother?】
A roar from a zombie came from upstairs.
Ye You withdrew his gaze and began to climb the stairs.
Regardless of what those people were about, his purpose here was simply to find his younger brother.
Aside from the crystal nucleus and the younger brother, everything else can wait.
The scent was very close, just upstairs.
In addition to the smell from the note, there was also a strong scent of fresh blood and a stench of decay.
When Ye You reached the third floor, he heard short, labored breathing and the sound of something being muffled along with muffled roars.
He turned the corner and ascended the stairs.
Ye You saw a black-haired boy in a school uniform, nearly soaked in blood, pressing down on another boy with pale skin, using his backpack to smother the other’s face.
“Roar——”
The muffled side was continuously growling—it was a zombie.
The boy on top of the zombie was breathing heavily and shallowly. He had sustained severe injuries, with blood flowing from his waist and nearly soaking his pants.
He couldn’t hold on much longer, but the zombie didn’t need to breathe.
It wouldn’t be long before the situation would completely reverse.
The boy seemed to hear footsteps behind him and suddenly turned around with a fierce gaze, like a hungry wolf.
When his eyes met Ye You’s, he appeared momentarily dazed. “Ge?”
In that brief moment of distraction, the zombie managed to break free from the backpack restraining its head and lunged forward, aiming for the boy’s neck.
Cling——
Ye You’s fingers lightly tapped the metal handrail, and his mental energy spread out with the crisp sound.
The zombie, halfway up, suddenly halted.
Ye You’s mental energy swept over the boy’s abdominal wound, and he came to a judgment.
The injuries were to the internal organs, and with significant blood loss and no medical resources or healing abilities, there was no saving him.
He actually didn’t care much about knowing his own past…
Su Zi’an noticed the sudden halt of the zombie. Although he was puzzled, he had no time to think too much and immediately tried to reapply pressure.
“Ge, hurry up and go!” Su Zi’an struggled to keep the zombie down and urgently told Ye You.
Ye You hesitated for a moment.
If he left, the zombie would lose his control and would definitely attack the human.
This person was his brother when he was still human.
A brother… should be a very important relative to a human, right?
Ye You moved up to the fourth floor, and under Su Zi’an’s anxious gaze, he entered a nearby dormitory.
After searching three dormitories, Ye You finally found a fruit knife.
When Ye You came out, he saw Su Zi’an in the corridor outside, anxiously shouting “Ge” while spitting blood.
The zombie remained motionless under Ye You’s control, and Su Zi’an’s bleeding was likely due to frustration at Ye You’s seemingly leisurely attitude.
Ye You knelt beside Su Zi’an and said, “You can’t kill a zombie like this.”
He pulled Su Zi’an’s right hand, completely disregarding Su Zi’an’s weak resistance, and had him hold the fruit knife.
Ye You pushed aside the backpack that was pressing down on the zombie’s face, took hold of Su Zi’an’s hand, and positioned the knife at the zombie’s forehead.
Ye You said, “It should be done like this.”
With a single stab, the white mist in the zombie’s brain dissipated.
Ye You released Su Zi’an’s hand and said, “It’s dead.”
Then, Ye You looked at Su Zi’an and calmly said, “You’re going to die too.”
Su Zi’an’s injuries were too severe.
If it were before the apocalypse, he might have been taken to a hospital for treatment.
But now, in the apocalypse, and without any healing abilities, there was no chance for recovery.
