Genius Mechanic: Chapter 233.2
Slared Contaminated Zone(Territory-Wide Abnormal Move)
233. Follow Up
The starship from the Dawn Galaxy traveled through space for six days before arriving at Sirius. As soon as it landed, Sirius’ administrative officer, who had been preparing for the reception, approached the docking station. But before he could step forward, he saw a series of robots responsible for unloading cargo moving toward the starship’s cargo bay.
Standing at the edge of the docking platform, KID’s boss Shen Xingtang watched as the robots efficiently unloaded the cargo, transferring it to large mobile storage units that KID had pre-arranged. She swiftly signed a contract with Director Liu of the Dawn Galaxy’s Resource Management Bureau. “So, we’ll deliver the goods to the Dawn Research Institute first, and the remaining payment will be settled within seven business days?”
“Of course,” Director Liu replied with a forced smile, his heart aching. “We’ll make sure to settle it as quickly as possible.”
Initially, only a portion of the materials had been ordered. Who could’ve predicted that KID would gather such a massive haul? When Director Liu sent KID’s inventory list to the research institute, the researchers—who constantly burned through funds—wanted everything on it.
After all, these materials were even being offered at discounted rates. Once KID listed them in their online store, they’d be snatched up instantly or sold at significantly higher prices.
Faced with a procurement list that had grown 60% larger than the original order, Director Liu had no choice but to grit his teeth and take on the entire inventory. With insufficient liquid funds, he even had to write an IOU to KID.
Satisfied with securing a major deal, Shen Xingtang signed off and left with her mecha pilots in a large hovercar they had pre-booked.
As the group of scavengers departed triumphantly, the leaders from Dawn could only watch them leave with mixed feelings.
None of them had anticipated a day when they couldn’t afford something and had to sign an IOU with KID.
Li Jingyan remarked, “Young people sure know how to surprise us.”
Director Liu’s face was expressionless. He had never thought he’d one day rely on Chairman Li’s influence to buy goods on credit. “Don’t worry, we’ll settle this payment as soon as possible.”
Li Jingyan went aside to talk with the Sirius administrative officer.
Several other leaders patted Director Liu on the shoulder, earnestly advising—
“Lao Liu, they’ll be heading to the Star Domain Championship soon. There are plenty of materials over there too.”
“Work harder. Otherwise, next time you pre-order from them, you might not even afford the deposit.”
Did Director Liu understand?
He understood. He was already preparing to ask the First Star Domain’s leaders for money.

When KID’s team returned to their base, they temporarily stored their large haul of materials in a warehouse owned by their business partner, Boss Zhou of Jianheng. They planned to move everything to their new base once they relocated.
As they arrived back at the base, another incident occurred—a massive cross-domain package specifically addressed to “KID-Sink” awaited their signature.
Ying Chenlin had just arrived at the base’s entrance, dragging his suitcase, when he was stopped by Jianheng’s security captain.
“I have a starship delivery?” Ying Chenlin was stunned.
The security captain nodded. “Yes, it arrived several days ago and requires your signature.”
Ji Qingfeng asked, “Did you buy something?”
“No…” Ying Chenlin rarely shopped online. He usually asked Shen Xingtang to help purchase any materials he needed, and he couldn’t recall ordering anything himself.
You Su’s brow twitched slightly.
The package was left at Jianheng’s building. When KID’s team saw the enormous package, they were momentarily stunned. Ying Chenlin signed for it from the delivery robot and noticed that the sender was anonymous. He had no idea what was inside.
The package was so large that it couldn’t even fit through the gates of KID’s base. They had to use a storage device to transport it inside.
Once inside the maintenance room, they unpacked the package, revealing three spacious mecha storage containers. Inside the containers were materials from the Slared Contaminated Zone, including several S-Class materials and rare anomalous crystals they had never seen before.
“Crap, what the hell is all this?!” Ji Qingfeng exclaimed. “A windfall from heaven?!”
Only then did Ying Chenlin remember. “…It’s from E.M. I collected a protection fee from them.”
Jiang Simiao: “E.M, the one E.M. I know?! You charged a protection fee from them???”
“I mentioned two storage containers, they gave an extra one,” Ying Chenlin explained with a nod. “These are rightfully ours. Check what’s usable and keep those; sell off the rest.”
With a sudden influx of materials, Jiang Simiao and Gu Xiaotian were quickly busy again.
After inspecting the materials, the other mecha pilots returned to their rooms to rest.
Ying Chenlin glanced at the materials and was about to take his suitcase to his room, before returning to the maintenance room. As he turned around, he bumped into You Su, who was standing right behind him. Their eyes met, but before Ying Chenlin could speak, the man in front of him beat him to it.
“Where are you going?” You Su asked.
Ying Chenlin stepped back and stood upright. “To put away my luggage.”
You Su’s gaze lingered on him before he reached out and took the suitcase. “I’ll take it.”
Ying Chenlin released his grip, and You Su successfully walked off with the luggage. “Thanks, You Ge.”
When Shen Xingtang emerged from the warehouse, she saw Ying Chenlin standing at the maintenance room’s door, seemingly looking outside. She called out, “Chenlin, weren’t you going to put away your luggage?”
You Su had already taken it away.
Ying Chenlin snapped out of his thoughts, turning to head back into the maintenance room. “I’ll hold off for now. I want to check on the weapons—Grandpa Gu mentioned making progress these past few days…”
As Ying Chenlin was about to head out, Shen Xingtang reached out and stopped him. “You’re heading straight to the maintenance room just after getting back?”
“The Star Domain Tournament isn’t happening for another month, but there’s no guarantee they won’t announce it next month. Time’s tight, and some things need to be prepared in advance.” Ying Chenlin knew he couldn’t completely relax just yet. The new weapons had to keep pace with the schedule. Although the Dawn Galaxy was covering mecha maintenance, weapon assembly was still time-consuming. On top of that, there was the matter of replacing the mecha’s S-Class materials. It was far from time to ease up.
Shen Xingtang didn’t let go. Instead, she handed him a data pad. “There’s plenty of time.”
Ying Chenlin was taken aback as he glanced at the résumé details on the screen. “What’s this?”
“A maintenance team for you,” Shen Xingtang explained as she introduced it. “The hiring process has been underway for a while. I reached out to some experienced mechanics and apprentices through industry connections. Grandpa Gu helped with technical interviews, and I’ve screened their characters. Now it’s your turn to make the final picks. Take a look and see who catches your eye. Once you decide, they’ll start as soon as we move to the new base in a few days.”
Ying Chenlin quickly skimmed through the résumés on the data pad and unexpectedly recognized a few familiar faces. He hesitated. “Do we have enough money for this?”
“Of course we do. Why would you worry about money? The base has the funds now. Whatever assistants you need, you’ll get.” Shen Xingtang ruffled the young man’s hair. “Chenlin, thank you. Without your help, KID wouldn’t have gotten through its tough times so easily.”
“I didn’t do much. A lot of it was thanks to their efforts.” Ying Chenlin didn’t look away from the data pad. “I’ll sort through these right away and give you the list in a bit.”
“What’s the rush?” Shen Xingtang pulled the data pad out of his hands and smiled. “For now, go take a shower, change into casual clothes, and head out with the others.”
“Is there something else that needs to be done?” Ying Chenlin asked.
“Not at all.” Shen Xingtang was at a loss with the young man who only seemed to focus on work. “Go shopping with them. We’re moving to the new base soon—don’t you need to add anything to your room? Or are you really planning to treat your room as just a place to sleep and ignore everything else?”
Ying Chenlin didn’t have anything in particular to buy. “I…”
Before he could finish, Shen Xingtang had already contacted Huo Yan to handle things and promptly ushered Ying Chenlin out of the maintenance room.
Grandpa Gu happened to walk by and remarked kindly, “It’s rare to see you kick him out of the maintenance room.”
“A 20-year-old shouldn’t live such a dull life,” Shen Xingtang replied, watching Ying Chenlin leave. “He also needs a few days to recuperate. Let those lively ones take him out for a couple of days before he gets back to work.”
